To whom it may concern,
My name is own name here, and I’m writing to you as I belong to a group of thousands both Chinese and Foreign who are estranged from our families outside of China. We are desperate to be reunited with our families and are asking for your urgent and compassionate help.
Since March 28
th
China closed its borders to the rest of the world to help stop and control the spread of COVID 19 and protect China and its people. China has been the leading example to other countries in how to control the viruses spread and other countries adopted this model. As the virus was controlled within China those of us outside of China were ever hopeful of reuniting with loved ones inside of China’s borders. Sadly though this has not happened to the vast majority. While we all understand the importance of being vigilant against the virus and the importance of getting the economy back to its former strong self. We also feel that those of us who have been lucky enough to choose China as their home and who love China should be able to return too. We have all chosen China to live, work and raise our children in. We all contribute so much to China by employing drivers and cleaners. We spend our money in China, supporting the local shops and local communities and in return China rewards us with its kindness, culture and beauty.
Many of us are for various reasons are unable to get a PU letter of invitation to be able to obtain a new visa. We are being told by Chinese consulates around the world that we cannot apply for a visa on humanitarian grounds unless a very close relative has died or dying.
It is a huge humanitarian concern that husbands, wives and children are separated. Children crying themselves to sleep at night because they miss Mummy or Daddy. Husbands and wives missing the ones they love. Thousands of miles apart unable to support each other. Parents missing their child growing up, not able to teach them things, read a bedtime story, kiss them goodnight. Waking each day hoping this will be the day and then that night hoping tomorrow will be that day. The emotional strain is enormous. The mental torment and anguish is having profound effects on us all. All our stories are different, here is mine.
Insert own story.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We ask you to consider the plight of our husbands, wives and children who are suffering without their loved ones and hope you will recognise this as the humanitarian crisis we all feel it is. We ask that you make visas accessible to all families in your re-opening plan so we can all be reunited and put an end to our suffering.
Sincerely.
