The recently announced
Guidelines on Promoting the Sound Development of Online Shopping
requires real-name registration for any individual conducting business activities via the internet and gradually implements a business registration system. Furthermore, the guidelines require that commercial vendors improve their service and administration mechanisms, improve the trading environment, regulate trading activities and promote the development of online shopping. The guidelines hope to protect the lawful rights and interests of consumers and have the trading volume of online shopping reach 5% of China’s total retail sales of consumer goods. “These guidelines will give Chinese consumers more purchasing options and further advance the Chinese economy,” said Edward E.
